ROTIMI AMAECHI, THE EXECUTOR OF THE VISION

“A goal is not always meant to be reached; it often serves simply as something to aim at.” –Bruce Lee

The President Buhari’s administration which took over the saddle of leadership 5 years ago had various agenda for our dear country Nigeria but among all was the reintroduction of Rail Transportation.

While Nigerians waited in disappointment for the constitution of his cabinet, Mr President was scouting for capable hands.

Almost 5 months later, Ministers were nomiated, screened and inaugurated. Rotimi Amaechi was appointed Minister of Transportation. As an integral part of the President campaigns, Rotimi had first hand information on the dreams and aspirations of PMB as President. He swung into action to bring to limelight the vision of Mr President.

With the interest of the wonder boy in project delivery, Nigeria has received numerous interests from the International Communities in the world to partner with the FG to see that Nigeria has one of the best Rail Transportation system in the world.

In view of the above, the Hon. Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in company of the Vice-President, his colleague and former Governor of Osun State and present Minister of Interior, Hon. Rauf Aregbesola, the Senate Committee Chairman on Land Transport, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, etc, were in Ogun State for ground breaking ceremony for the manufacturing of locomotives, coaches and spare parts for improved railway transport in Nigeria through a Chinese company CCECC.

It is believed that when this project commences, it will create about 5,000 jobs, direct and indirect.

It is not in dispute that rail transport is one of the fastest land transport with reduced risk and challenges.

The locomotives and coaches will also serve the already completed Abuja-Itakpe-Warri railway which will help transport people and steel from the Ajaokuta Steel Company, Itakpe. The Abuja-Kaduna railway will also benefit from the project, as well as the ongoing Lagos-Ibadan railway.

It is only those who used the trains in the days of old, that will appreciate the feat recorded by President Buhari and the wonderboy Amaechi in the reintroduction of rail transport in Nigeria.
